### Lesson Plan: French Language - Les nombres (Numbers)
**Grade Level:** Primary 2
**Duration:** 45 minutes
---
#### **Objective:**
Students will be able to recognize, pronounce, and write numbers 1 to 10 in French. By the end of the lesson, students should be able to count from 1 to 10 and identify these numbers in written and spoken forms.
#### **Materials Needed:**
- Flashcards with numbers 1-10
- Chart with numbers 1-10 written in French and English
- Number songs in French (audio or video)
- Worksheets with number activities (e.g., matching numbers to words, basic addition and subtraction using French numbers)
- Markers or chalk for board work
- Colored pencils for worksheet activities
#### **Lesson Activities:**
1. **Introduction (5 minutes):**
- Greet the students in French: "Bonjour!"
- Briefly introduce the topic: "Aujourd'hui, nous allons apprendre les nombres en français!"
- Engage students by asking if anyone knows any French numbers already.
2. **Presentation (10 minutes):**
- Introduce numbers 1 to 10 using flashcards. Show each flashcard one by one, and pronounce each number clearly: “un (1), deux (2), trois (3), quatre (4), cinq (5), six (6), sept (7), huit (8), neuf (9), dix (10)”.
- Encourage students to repeat after you as each number is shown.
3. **Practice (15 minutes):**
- **Choral Repetition:** Display the chart with numbers 1-10 written in French and English. Have the entire class repeat after you several times.
- **Number Song:** Play a French number song and sing along with the students. This could be "Un, deux, trois" by Chantal Goya or a similar song.
- **Interactive Counting:** Ask students to stand up and count from 1 to 10 as a class. Then, let individuals try counting alone or in small groups.
4. **Activities (10 minutes):**
- **Flashcard Matching Game:** Mix up flashcards on a table. Ask the students to match the number cards with cards that have the French word for that number.
- **Worksheet Activity:** Hand out worksheets where students can match numbers to French words, trace numbers, and perform simple additions and subtractions using French numbers.
5. **Consolidation (5 minutes):**
- Review the numbers by calling out a number and having students show the corresponding flashcard or writing it down on their mini whiteboards.
- Quick Q&A: Ask individual students to say a number in French. Encourage them by clapping or giving small rewards.
6. **Wrap-Up (5 minutes):**
- Recap the lesson with the whole class by revisiting the number song or doing one last counting exercise.
- Assign a small homework task: Write the numbers 1-10 in French and practice saying them with a family member.
#### **Assessment:**
- Observe students' participation during choral repetition and individual counting tasks.
- Review completed worksheets to ensure comprehension and correct usage of numbers.
- Listen for correct pronunciation during practice activities and correct where necessary.
#### **Closure:**
- Thank the students for their participation: "Merci beaucoup, les amis!"
- Remind them to practice their numbers at home and have fun with it!
